WebJul 10, 2015 · Rutland, Vt. –Green Mountain Power has just completed an improvement project to its 110-year-old hydro plant on the Otter Creek in Proctor that will mean more renewable, low-cost hydro power for GMP customers. The added capacity makes this plant the largest of Green Mountain Power’s fleet of 32 Vermont hydro plants. The main natural gas distributor in Québec was created during the first nationalization of electricity in Québec, in 1944. By bringing Montreal Light, Heat and Power under state control, the new Quebec Hydroelectric Commission, better known as Hydro-Québec, not only took charge of the company's electricity assets, and also acquired a gas distribution network in Greater Montreal.
